01 · Harbourage
Bed bugs don't only live in beds
Bed bugs harbour in furniture, joints, cracks, fixtures and other protected places close to where people rest — not only in the mattress. That is why an inspection that stops at the bed so often misses the real source, and why treating a single item rarely resolves an infestation.
02 · Identification
Why identification comes first
Several common insects are mistaken for bed bugs, and several skin reactions are mistaken for bites. Identification decides whether a heat treatment is the right response at all. We would far rather confirm what is actually present than treat a property for something it does not have.
03 · Evidence
The signs are rarely the insects themselves
People usually notice the evidence before they notice a bed bug: small dark marks on fabric, shed skins, or reactions appearing overnight. Any one of these on its own can have another explanation. Read together, and in the right places, they tell a much more reliable story.
04 · Behaviour
Behaviour explains the pattern
Bed bugs respond to warmth, carbon dioxide and the rhythm of an occupied room. They move along edges and settle where they are least disturbed. Understanding that behaviour is what turns a search of a whole property into a search of the places that actually matter.
05 · Spread
They travel on things, not distances
Bed bugs are poor travellers on their own. They move in luggage, bags, furniture and belongings. That is why an infestation can appear in a spotless home, and why how a property became affected matters far less than how thoroughly it is dealt with.
06 · Biology
Why the problem persists
Bed bugs survive long periods without feeding and their eggs are more resistant than the adults. A treatment that reduces the visible population but leaves eggs behind can look successful for a fortnight and then fail. Any credible approach has to account for every life stage.
07 · Thermal science
Why temperature matters
Professional heat treatment is not about making a room feel hot. What matters is whether the required conditions are reached in the places bed bugs are actually harbouring — inside furniture, fabric and voids — and held there. The air temperature alone tells you very little.
08 · Method
Heating a room is not the whole process
Heat is one part of a controlled process that also involves surveying the property, managing airflow, protecting what needs protecting, monitoring conditions throughout and confirming the result before the equipment comes out. The equipment is the easy part; the control is the work.
09 · Preparation
Preparation changes the outcome
How a property is prepared affects how heat moves through it and how much of it reaches the places that matter. Preparation is not tidying. Each treatment gets specific instructions for that property, because a small flat and a furnished family house need very different things.
10 · Monitoring
Conditions are monitored, not assumed
During a treatment, conditions are followed as they develop rather than assumed from a timer. Properties do not heat evenly: contents, construction and layout all resist heat differently, and the response has to change with what the property is doing on the day.
11 · Proof
A treatment should leave evidence behind
A professional treatment produces a record: what was found, what was done, what conditions were achieved and when the property was confirmed safe to re-enter. Customers should not have to take a verbal assurance on trust — they should be able to read what happened.
12 · Aftercare
What happens afterwards still counts
Re-entry, what comes back into the room and how the following weeks are watched all affect the final result. Aftercare is not an afterthought sheet; it is the last stage of the treatment, and it is issued to each customer for their own property.
