Specialist Service
Professional Bed Bug Heat Treatment
Specialist heat treatment delivered through a controlled, monitored and documented process.
The Principle
What is bed bug heat treatment?
Heat treatment raises the temperature of a treatment area, using professional heating and temperature-monitoring equipment, so that heat is applied throughout the space rather than to individual surfaces alone.
Whole-area approach
The room or property section being treated is heated as a whole, including the contents within it.
Controlled and monitored
Temperature is raised progressively and followed at monitoring positions across the treatment area.
Documented outcome
Information captured during the works forms a record of the treatment carried out.
Why Heat
Why heat is used
Illustrative imageBed bugs shelter in harbourage areas — seams, joints, frames, skirting lines, furniture structure and other tight spaces within a room. Those areas can be difficult to address individually, because reaching every one of them by hand depends on finding every one of them first.
Heat behaves differently. Rather than treating surfaces one at a time, heat treatment aims to bring the treatment environment itself up to temperature, so that conditions are applied across the treated area including within its contents.
That is also why monitoring matters. Different parts of a room heat at different rates, so knowing where heat has actually reached is central to how the treatment is run.
Treatment Scope
Room treatment or property treatment
Treatment scope is agreed according to the circumstances of your property. Not every property requires whole-property treatment.
Room treatment
Where activity and risk are contained to a defined area, treatment can be scoped to that room or rooms, with the surrounding property considered as part of the assessment.
Wider or whole-property treatment
Where the assessment indicates activity or movement beyond a single room, a wider treatment scope may be recommended and explained before any work is agreed.
Illustrative imagePreparation
Preparation matters
Preparation directly affects how a treatment can be delivered. Items, storage and room layout influence how heat moves through a space and where equipment can be positioned.
You receive preparation requirements before treatment day, together with support if anything is unclear. Preparation requirements also form part of the guarantee conditions.
Do
- Strip bedding and bag it for laundering as instructed
- Leave the mattress, divan base and headboard in place
- Open wardrobes, drawers and cupboards so heat can circulate inside
- Keep furniture in place unless your technician has told you otherwise
- Clear the route from the parking area to the treated rooms
- Confirm preparation is complete at least 48 hours before treatment day
Do not
- Move belongings out of the treated area unless we tell you to
- Leave aerosols, medicines, cosmetics or candles in treated rooms
- Leave heat-sensitive food, plants or pets in the treated area
- Ignore unusual items — ask us before treatment day

Heat is only useful if you know where it reached.
Heater output is not the same as the temperature achieved throughout a treatment environment. Monitoring at positions across the treatment area gives the technician the information needed to assess how the treatment is progressing.
How Heat Treatment Works- Monitoring positions selected for the room and its contents
- Progression followed throughout the treatment
- Assessment against the required treatment criteria
- Monitoring information recorded in your treatment record

Documentation
Treatment evidence and your treatment record
Documentation is part of the service rather than an optional extra. Information captured during the works is compiled into the BHE Verified Treatment Record™ — a documented record of the treatment carried out.
The record is produced by Bed Bug Heat Experts UK. It is not an independent certification.
Reassurance
Six-month guarantee
6-Month Guarantee
Our six-month guarantee provides additional reassurance following qualifying treatments. Full guarantee conditions are provided before treatment and form part of the customer agreement.
Terms and conditions apply. The guarantee is conditional, and known operational conditions include matters such as:
- Bed bug activity originating from an adjoining property
- Reintroduction following treatment
- Activity outside the agreed treatment scope
- Failure to comply with agreed preparation requirements
- Failure to follow relevant aftercare requirements
Full conditions are provided in writing before treatment. This page explains the principle of the guarantee only — it is not the customer agreement.
