Methodology
How Bed Bug Heat Treatment Works
A stage-by-stage view of how a Bed Bug Heat Experts UK treatment is planned, delivered, monitored and documented.
The Process
Nine stages, start to finish
Each stage exists for a reason. Together they answer what we are going to do, how you will know it was done properly, and what is recorded afterwards.
- 01
Assessment
We establish the property, the treatment area, access arrangements, layout, preparation requirements and any other practical considerations that affect how treatment can be delivered.
- 02
Preparation
You receive preparation requirements before treatment day. Correct preparation is important to how the treatment can be carried out, and support is available if anything is unclear.
- 03
Arrival & verification
On arrival, treatment areas and the relevant preparation are checked. Any material issues can be documented before work begins.
- 04
Equipment setup
Professional heating and temperature-monitoring equipment is positioned according to the treatment requirements of that property and treatment area.
- 05
Controlled heating
The treatment area is heated progressively. Reaching a single air-temperature reading is not, by itself, treated as the end of the process.
- 06
Monitoring & verification
Temperatures are monitored during treatment. Following several locations rather than one reading is what shows how heat is developing across the area and within its contents.
- 07
Completion
The technician determines when the treatment process has satisfied the required treatment criteria for that treatment area.
- 08
Documentation
Treatment information and relevant evidence are recorded and compiled into the BHE Verified Treatment Record™.
- 09
Cooling & re-entry
Re-entry instructions are provided following treatment and must be followed. Instructions are specific to the treatment carried out at your property.
Setup
Getting equipment into the property
Equipment setup is a practical exercise as much as a technical one. Stairs, communal areas, lift availability, parking distance and electrical supply all shape how a treatment is set up.

These factors are established at assessment so that treatment day runs to plan — and they are the same factors that shape your quotation.
Why Prices VaryEquipment
Equipment used during treatment
Equipment is selected to suit the treatment area and the property. Specific makes and models are confirmed as part of the treatment record rather than advertised generically.
Heating equipment
Professional heating units sized to the treatment area and the property's supply.
Temperature probes
Probes placed at monitoring positions selected for the room and its contents.
Monitoring system
Readings from monitoring positions are followed throughout the treatment.
Thermal imaging
Thermal imagery can be used to review how heat is developing across the area.
Supporting equipment
Air movement, cabling and power distribution equipment as the property requires.
Monitoring
Several locations, not a single reading
Furniture, room edges, floor areas, dense contents and locations further from the heating equipment can all heat at different rates. Monitoring across the treatment area is what shows how the treatment is actually progressing.

Duration
How long does a treatment take?
Treatment duration varies according to the property, treatment area, construction, contents, access, electrical supply and how temperatures develop throughout the treatment.
For that reason we do not publish a universal treatment time. The expected approach for your property is explained at assessment.
Ready to talk about your property?
We will explain the treatment scope, how the process applies to your property and what your quotation includes.
