Bed Bug Heat Treatment in Cumbria
Cumbria is the longest-travel region we cover. Carlisle and the M6 corridor, the west coast towns, the Lake District valleys, Kendal and the south, and Barrow and Furness are each a separate working day. Hubs here reflect real driving times with heat-treatment equipment, not straight-line distance.

Cumbria is two unitary authorities, both created on 1 April 2023: Cumberland, covering Carlisle, Allerdale and Copeland, and Westmorland and Furness, covering Barrow, South Lakeland and Eden. Cumbria County Council and its six districts no longer exist. Each table states the authority an address sits in.

Property and access
What affects a Cumbria heat treatment
The practical detail of the building changes the plan far more than the region does.
Tourism and hospitality property
Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Keswick and Grange-over-Sands hold hotels, guest houses and holiday cottages with weekly changeover, so rooms are treated in an agreed order around bookings.
Older stone housing
Carlisle, Kendal, Whitehaven and the market towns carry solid stone terraces and Georgian property with thick walls and irregular layouts, which affects how heat is applied and monitored.
Remote rural property
Valley farms, fell cottages and converted barns sit on single-track roads where access, turning space, parking and power are confirmed at survey before a date is agreed.
Coastal and post-industrial housing
Workington, Whitehaven, Maryport and Barrow hold dense terraced streets built for former industry, where parking and cable runs are planned in advance.
Student and shared housing
Carlisle, Kendal and Ambleside carry shared houses and staff accommodation with multiple occupied bedrooms, treated as one property rather than room by room.
Seasonal staff accommodation
Hospitality employers across the Lakes house seasonal staff in shared blocks and cottages, where turnover is high and the whole unit is assessed together.
The treatment
How the treatment itself works
The method does not change between towns. These are the authoritative pages.
Quotations
How treatment is quoted in Cumbria
Quotations follow the same national approach. There is no Cumbria surcharge and no automated price — every quotation is prepared by a person.
Quoted individually
Every property is quoted on its own treatment requirements
Prepared by a person
No automated calculator and no published price list
Guarantee
Six-month guarantee
6-Month Guarantee
Our six-month guarantee provides additional reassurance following qualifying treatments. Full guarantee conditions are provided before treatment and form part of the customer agreement.
Terms and conditions apply. The guarantee is conditional, and known operational conditions include matters such as:
- Bed bug activity originating from an adjoining property
- Reintroduction following treatment
- Activity outside the agreed treatment scope
- Failure to comply with agreed preparation requirements
- Failure to follow relevant aftercare requirements
Full conditions are provided in writing before treatment. This page explains the principle of the guarantee only — it is not the customer agreement.
Guarantee InformationEvidence
Cumbria treatment evidence
We do not publish invented local case studies. Anonymised Cumbria evidence will appear here once genuine treatment records have been through our approval and anonymisation process.
Questions
Cumbria questions
- Does Cumbria County Council still exist?
- No. Since April 2023 the area has two unitary authorities: Cumberland, and Westmorland and Furness. Both are covered here.
- How far in advance do remote properties need booking?
- Longer than urban work. Journey times across Cumbria are substantial, so appointments are grouped by hub and travel is built into the day.
- Do you treat holiday cottages and hotels?
- Yes. Treatment is planned around the booking calendar so rooms return to service in an agreed order.
- Is Barrow served from Kendal?
- No. Barrow-in-Furness is its own hub, because the Furness peninsula is a separate journey from the south Lakes.
- Can equipment reach a property on a single-track road?
- Access, turning space, parking and the available power supply are checked at survey, and the plan is set around what the property can actually take.
